The Department of Occupational Therapy is seeking an Administrative Specialist to support on our Lewiston Campus.  The Occupational Therapy program takes an integrative and holistic approach in educating students to become Occupational Therapists. Graduates of this program will be prepared to succeed in the health and community care contexts as ethical, socially responsible, life-long learners.   We seek an energetic and organized individual to support this program and its dedicated students. 

For this Administrative Specialist position the starting rate of pay will be $17.69/hour for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee with the University of Maine System.  This position is full-time, working 8:00AM – 4:30PM, Monday – Friday, evenings and weekends as necessary and is located on our Lewiston Campus.  Upon completion of our probationary period, there is an opportunity for remote work of one day per week.  

The Administrative Specialist performs tasks that are diverse in scope, requiring knowledge and skill in a variety of areas, such as accounting, marketing, and administrative support.  Work involves considerable internal and external contacts, access to confidential information, and administration of department policies and procedures.  Communication includes non-routine matters which may involve interpretation of University and departmental policy.  Maintaining confidentiality and the ability to manage multiple tasks and to prioritize are essential.  Judgment and initiative are frequently exercised, and work is typically performed under general rather than specific instruction.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and sufficient experience.
  • Two years administrative support experience.
  • Ability to work well with many people at all levels.
  • Computer proficiency (ex. MS Office, web)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and assign work.
