The University of Southern Maine’s Athletic Department is seeking applicants for their 10-month (August – June) Athletic Trainer position.  This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Athletic Trainer who seeks to expand and develop their career.  We welcome the opportunity to talk with you about joining a team that strives to serve our students first every day! 

Athletics is an important and exciting part of student life at USM.  Sponsoring 22 NCAA Division III intercollegiate teams and nearly 500 student-athletes, Husky student-athletes routinely compete at the regional and national level.  As an NCAA Division III member institution, Huskies’ athletics places the highest priority on the overall quality of the educational experience and on the successful completion of all students’ academic programs. Along with providing the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries sustained by intercollegiate student-athletes (which includes emergency/acute care, evaluation, referral, modality application, and educational counseling relating to the student-athlete's overall wellness), the selected candidate will be responsible for the clinical instruction, supervision, and proficiency evaluation of athletic training majors pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree or the Masters of Science degree in Athletic Training.

This position is located on our Gorham Campus and will pay an annual salary up to $40,000 commensurate with experience.

  • Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or related field OR Master's Degree must be completed within the first year of employment/hire.
  • Minimum of two years professional experience in Athletic Training (includes graduate school) 

Licenses/Certifications:

  • BOC (Board of Certification) Certification  
  • State of Maine Athletic Training license (must obtain by appointment date) 
  • Maintain Preceptor role in Athletic Training Education
  • Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) certification
  • American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED Instructor Certification or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
