JOB INFORMATION

The incumbent performs duties related to maintaining the operations of the assigned structural trade by performing established preventative maintenance, troubleshooting structural and appearance issues, building and constructing structures and inspecting operational systems. Work is primarily non-routine in nature due to calls for service, and variety of assigned projects. Incumbent communicates with other University staff to schedule and plan projects. Incumbent understands the full scope of assigned structural trade(s). This is an essential position with the expectation of reporting to work during declared administrative leaves and administrative holidays, including campus closures due to the inclement weather.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Operates hand and power tools associated with the carpentry trade
  • Acts as secondary locksmith with basic knowledge of the trade to cut key and troubleshoot after hours door and lock problems for residential students
  • Requisitions materials and supplies and orders from vendors
  • Cleans, sharpens and performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment

Requirements:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D)
  • Three years of related experience
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 
  • Must have valid State of Maine driver’s license that meets APL requirements for ability to drive and operate University vehicles and equipment
